Day121. JCB.
Posted on July 4th, 2008
Went for a little drive to take a few pictures for today, went to take some in a corn field and as I was taking them I quickly turned the tripod around to capture a JCB fast track passing my car. A few minutes later he had turned around and was on his way back, presumably to shout at me for being in his field, by this time we was traveling the opposite direction to what he was coming.
Exposure: 0.6 sec (3/5)
Aperture: f/4.8
Focal Length: 38 mm
Using the 3 pictures as today, just saves me posting 2 more pictures.

Jamendo. Electro
Posted on July 4th, 2008
I’ve had this blog in my RSS reader for sometime now, but never really looked at the content, although I have downloaded some good chill out music from the site before.
For people that don’t know Jamendo is a music site in which the artist uploads their album under the Creative Commons, meaning its free basically.
On the blog today I came across a hand picked electro album. Been put together by the kind folks over there and comprises the best electro they have come across. Head over and download it.

The Happening, rubbish?
Posted on July 4th, 2008
The source I use for all my reviews and knows about films is imdb, when looking up The Happening I noticed that it had some terrible reviews, and I mean terrible, 1/10 being the usual rating. I have been waiting for this movie for some time, well since Mark Wahlberg (lead character) was interviewed on The Jonathan Ross show, so I thought I’d try and get a copy to see what all the fuss is about.
Intro to the movie is excellent, and is shot in silence which really makes it a winner in terms of build up and mood, and then leads to the opening scene in which the first weird death happens, leaving one like ‘Wft?’ the strange happenings begin to happen more and more frequently as the film roles out.
The acting from Mark is good, but that’s not to say that he should have been cast for this part, someone along the lines of Bruce Willis would have been a better fit. The worst member of the leading cast is the female lead, played out by Zooey Deschnel, she plays the partner of Mark (Elliot) and while being strikingly good looking, plays like a drama queen, shes completely oblivious to the the world’s event that is going on around her and is playing along like little Miss Jane without a care in the world.
The film has a old feel and look going on, which is a little uncool, but somehow I think also works, the CGI is quite well mixed into the film, in that its not focused on as a special effect but more just how it would show in reality, although the scene with the Jeep in was a little unrealistic with the speed of the crash.
The Happening is down in the genre of horror, but for me wasn’t scary, and was more along the lines of a thriller, a slow thriller at that. The deaths in the film are what kept me entertained as well as the story line and while the story line is good and is based on a real theory of ‘Bystander Apathy’ it still boils down to us being overcome by trees and plants, which is a little lame.
Overall I think it doesn’t and shouldn’t be as dismissed as a shit film. I would recommend watching it to gather your own thoughts on the film. Before the film started I thought I might have been turning it off halfway through, but I didn’t and it kept my entaitained for the time it was on screen. I think the real reason why the film is getting critisized heavily is due to the fact of the horror not being a horror and the miss Jane acting of the main female lead, oh and the script isn’t to imaginative.
I have added a screen shot below, he looks like a monkey.

Posted on July 4th, 2008
The X is for Sophia, for taking such a good shot.
Stumbled upon this round about that no one really uses, I thought of the idea of driving around, around and around and let Soph capture it. not really edited too much, just punched the darks a little.
Turned out well I think.

PicLens …a must.
Posted on July 1st, 2008
Was having a gander through my RSS feeds tonight and came across this little gem. Its a add-on for the almighty Firefox 3, allowing you to browse through flickr galleries in a really cool 3d space.
Showing the images on an 3d black background, which I like for pictures. Love it when clicking on a image and its loads from pixelated to being smooth. Runs really nicely on my connection, which is 10mb. Don’t know what it runs like on the lesser connections.
